Amer centre shut down in Dubai for violating Covid-19 safety guidelines

Date:

Dubai Economy on Wednesday said it shut down an Amer centre in Al Riggat Al Buteen for failure to comply with the precautionary and safety measures announced to contain the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The major violations detected at the centre included exceeding the 30 per cent staff limit permitted, non-installation of thermal scanners for customers, not displaying physical distancing stickers, and failure to ensure distancing in customer seating areas.

Amer centres are private facilities providing various visa and residency services as authorised by the General Directorate of Residency & Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).

The regulator has increased inspections as the economy slowly reopens after the restrictions imposed due to Covid-19. The daily inspections start with the market opening time in the morning and last till the markets close. Dubai Economy directed traders to comply with the Covid-19 precautionary measures, such as wearing face masks and gloves, and ensuring social distancing.

Dubai Economy has called on consumers to report any non-compliance with the Covid-19 precautionary guidelines via the Dubai Consumer App available on Apple, Google, and Huawei stores, by calling 600545555, or on the Consumerrights.ae website.
