The scared woman mustered courage to wake her up and asked him to leave.
A 34-year-old drunk Asian man entered a woman’s apartment in Al Majaz thinking it to be his own and scared her out of her wits, the Sharjah Misdemeanour Court has heard.
The woman told the court that she lived alone in the flat and forgot to lock the door as she came back tired from work. Some time later, she was shocked to find a man, who had entered the hall of the apartment, sleeping on the sofa, she added. The scared woman mustered courage to wake her up and asked him to leave. However, the man refused to do so. The woman said it was then that she called the police for help.
The accused told the court that he got drunk and entered her neighbour’s flat by mistake, as he thought it to be his own. According to police records, the operations room received a call from a terrified Asian woman seeking help to rescue her from a drunk man who had entered her apartment and was refusing to leave. The cops arrived at the apartment, asked the woman not to panic and took the man to the police station.
The police investigation revealed that the accused was living in the neighbouring apartment and couldn’t figure out his own flat as he was in an inebriated state.
The court adjourned the case till March 30.
